Walked In With No Box and Muddy Soles? How to Sell Sneakers in Brea the Right Way
Share
If you want to sell sneakers in Brea, the fastest way is to walk into Holy Ground on East Imperial Highway with the pairs in hand. In store, you get paid the same day. But how you show up changes how smooth that goes. A clean pair with its box, the right info, and a straight answer about wear makes the whole conversation easier for everybody. Here's how to prep before you come in, and what to expect when you do.
Quick answers
- Where: Holy Ground Brea, 1040 E Imperial Hwy, Brea, CA 92821.
- Fastest route: bring the pairs in person.
- Pay: same day for in-store sales.
- Can't come in? DM us on Instagram with photos, condition, and size for an offer.
- Consignment? No. We buy outright or you trade.
How does selling sneakers at Holy Ground work?
Simple (full details on our sell your sneakers page). Bring your pairs to the shop, we look them over, and we make an offer. If it works for you, you get paid same day.
Our aim is fair market value on every pair. That's the goal we publish, and it's how we'd want to be treated if we were on your side of the counter. We try to pay the best we can without lowballing you. We also have to make a living, and we'd rather tell you that straight than pretend otherwise.
Not local, or just want a number before you drive? Send us a DM on Instagram with photos, the condition, and the size. We'll get back to you with an offer. For trades through the mail, you ship your pair to us first.
One thing we don't do: consignment.
What should I bring when I sell my sneakers?
The more complete the pair, the easier the conversation.
- The original box. In decent shape if you've got it. Taped-up is still better than nothing.
- Everything that came with them. Extra laces, tags, the little stuff people toss in a drawer.
- The right size info. Check the tag inside the shoe, not your memory.
- Every pair you're thinking about. Bring the maybes. Sometimes a trade makes more sense than cash, and you won't know until you see what's on the wall.
What kinds of sneakers does Holy Ground buy?
Jordans, Nikes and Yeezys are the core of what we buy, and they're most of what you'll see on our walls in Brea. We also stock New Balance and ASICS, so if that's what's in your closet, bring them in and ask.
Every pair gets looked at on its own. Model, size, condition, and whether it's complete all go into the offer, which is why we can't quote you a number from a shoe's name alone. A two-minute look at the counter beats a long text thread.
Beat-up pairs? Bring them and ask. Worst case, you hear a straight no and keep your shoes.
Should I clean my sneakers before I sell them?
Yes. Ten minutes with a brush changes how a pair reads.
Knock the dirt out of the outsole. Wipe down the midsole. Pull hair and lint off the upper. If the laces are filthy, wash them or swap them for clean ones, because a pair that looks cared for gets looked at differently than the same pair pulled straight out of a gym bag with the laces still knotted.
Go easy on suede and nubuck, though. Use a soft brush made for it, and skip the hot water and the washing machine. Getting aggressive with the wrong cleaner can do more damage than the dirt did. If you need gear, our sneaker care collection has Angelus cleaning kits, including one made for nubuck and suede, plus Sole Bright for yellowed soles.
Don't try to hide anything. Creases, scuffs, sole wear: we'll see them in about four seconds anyway.
How should I describe the condition?
Straight, and in plain words.
Deadstock means never worn. If you tried them on and walked around the house, say so. If you wore them twice to church and once to a wedding, say that too. Being upfront about wear keeps the deal clean and saves both of us time.
Same goes for the DM route. Photos of both sides, the soles, the heel, the size tag, and the box. Clear pictures get you a faster, more accurate offer.
Why sell in Brea instead of online?
You skip the wait.
Selling online means listing, photographing, answering messages, shipping, and waiting on payouts. Selling at the Brea shop means one visit and same-day pay.
Then there's the cut. Resale apps charge sellers fees, and those come out of what lands in your account. Shipping also means trusting a box and a label with your best pair. At the counter, you hear the offer in person, and you get paid the same day.
It also means you're dealing with people, face to face. Our whole shop is built on two lines: Love God, Love People. We don't preach it at the counter. We just try to run a business you'd trust with your best pair, and that starts with an offer we'd be comfortable explaining to you.
And if you're on the Inland Empire side, our Upland shop does the same thing.
