Jordan 4 Retro KAWS: What It's Worth and Where to Find One

Jordan 4 Retro KAWS: What It's Worth and Where to Find One

The Jordan 4 Retro KAWS is one of those collaborations that never really cools off. Years removed from its original releases, the KAWS x Air Jordan 4 still commands serious resale numbers — and for good reason. It's a clean shoe, a culturally significant collab, and a grail for a lot of collectors who missed the initial drop.

If you're trying to understand what the Jordan 4 KAWS is worth right now, or you're looking to actually buy one in Southern California, here's what you need to know.

A Quick History of the KAWS x Air Jordan 4

KAWS — the artist and designer Brian Donnelly — has collaborated with Jordan Brand twice on the Air Jordan 4 silhouette.

The first release came in 2017 in two colorways: the Grey and the Black. Both dropped exclusively through KAWS's website and a handful of select retailers. They sold out instantly. The grey colorway retailed for around $350. The black retailed slightly higher. Both went straight to double or triple retail on the secondary market within days.

The Cool Grey version — cleaner upper, minimal branding, understated palette — became the more coveted of the two over time. The Black version (darker uppers, black Jumpman) has its own dedicated fanbase and consistently holds strong resale value.

Neither has had a general retro. That scarcity is a big part of why they still sell.

Jordan 4 KAWS Resale Price in 2025

Resale prices fluctuate based on size, condition, and market timing, but here's a general snapshot of where the KAWS 4s sit:

KAWS x Air Jordan 4 Grey (2017)

  • Men's sizes (8–12): $500–$750 in good pre-owned condition
  • DS (deadstock, unworn): $800–$1,200+ depending on size
  • Size 10–11 commands the highest premiums as the most popular range

KAWS x Air Jordan 4 Black (2017)

  • Men's sizes (8–12): $450–$700 in good pre-owned condition
  • DS: $700–$1,000+
  • Black colorway tends to run slightly below the Grey in most size ranges

A few factors that affect price:

  • Box condition — Original KAWS box with dust bag and hang tag adds meaningful value
  • Sole yellowing — These shoes are several years old. Yellowed soles bring the price down, particularly on the Grey
  • Star loss — Worn Jordan 4s with star loss (the perforated air unit detachment) are worth significantly less
  • Size — Men's 9.5–11 is peak demand. Smaller and larger sizes have less competition but also fewer buyers

Are They Still Worth Buying?

Depends on why you're buying.

As a collector's piece, yes. The KAWS x AJ4 has the kind of cultural staying power that most collabs don't. KAWS's influence in art and streetwear hasn't faded, and a general retro would only push pre-owned prices higher. Buying a quality pair now at market rate is a reasonable long-term hold.

As a wearable, also yes — but you have to be honest with yourself about what you're buying. A pre-owned pair in 8/10 condition that shows normal wear is still a great shoe. A 9.5/10 VNDS pair should probably stay off your feet unless you just don't care about preservation, and that's a valid choice too.

As a flip, the margins are thin in 2025 unless you're finding pairs below market. The days of doubling your money overnight on KAWS 4s are mostly over.
